Thanks to the WV ACTE HOE Executive Committee for the true teamwork needed to plan and implement a great staff development conference. Ninety-three teachers attended with one hundred and thirty-three students attending on Tuesday. Students attended as part of the WV HOSA Postsecondary Leadership Conference. The conference evaluation reflected the satisfaction of those attending.
Hats off to April Shapiro for her leadership of the HOE division. Although her term of office as President is completed, we know that she will continue her outstanding leadership as we work to gether in the years ahead. At this time, we look forward to working with Cyndy Sundstrom in her new roll as President. Our division is very fortunate to have such great officers and members.
In addition, on behalf of the HOE Division and the WVDE, a big thanks to each one of you that attended. You made it happen and we are all better for having attended. Not only is the continuing education opportunity appreciated during these conferences, but also the ability to network with fellow teachers is priceless. I do not want to fail to mention that part of the success of this conference is because of the successful preregistration campaign. Thanks again!
According to Gene Coulson, Executive Director of the Office of Program Services, we may be going back to the previous format of a total CTE conference next year. I will let you know the details as soon as I know.
If your chapter does not have a HOSA Chapter, please give it serious consideration. HOSA is your student professional organization. Integrating HOSA into Health Occupations Education programs is not hard. HOSA involvement, at any level, gives students an edge up on the behaviors and skills required as health care professionals.
If I can be of any help at any time please feel free to contact me. Have a great year!!
